UK Announces Point-Based Visa System
Since Prime Minister Boris Johnson hold the position there are a number of changes we have seen in the UK Immigration, in the year 2019 he has done a campaign for a work visa for people who have at least secondary education equivalency, a good level of English language, a job offer with minimum annual wages, whereas now in upcoming immigration system the UK immigration will give priority to highly skilled individuals, who have scientific, academic and technology-related qualifications.

As a result, the latest UK immigration system guidelines were published on 13th July 2020. The new point base system will be applicable from the starting of the New Year.

To get qualify in this new system there are certain criteria that need to meet by the candidates and with meeting criteria, if their score will be reached to 70 points then only they can apply for the visa. Individuals’ profiles will be assessed on the bases of their specific skills, qualifications, salaries, or professions.

- The first 50 points are awarded for a candidate’s English skills, and for receiving a job offer in their field of training from an approved sponsor.
- Candidates can get additional points if they can meet criteria such as the minimum wage threshold, a job offer in a labor shortage occupation. OR
- Candidates who have a Ph.D. degree will get an additional 10 points whereas 20 points will be awarded to those who have a Ph.D. degree in subjects like Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Engineering.
