Newfoundland and Labrador to Open new Immigration Pathway for Skilled Workers
As per the latest Newfoundland Immigration news in the Priority Skills Newfoundland Immigration Program process is intended for individuals who have experience in occupations in demand in Newfoundland and Labrador, have a high level of education, language, work experience, and/or work experience, and who wish to express their interest in either staying in, or coming to the province and becoming a permanent resident of Canada.
Currently, expressions of interest are being accepted from:
- Individuals who have worked in a specialized, highly skilled, high-demand occupation for at least one full year in the last 10 years.
- Individuals who have completed PhD or Master’s degrees from Memorial University (NFL) within the past three years in the following specialties: Technology, Health Care, Aquaculture, and Agriculture.
Newfoundland and Labrador have opened new immigration program for skilled workers from 2nd January 2021. The program is targeted two category candidates
- In-demand Academic Candidates:
- Individual skilled workers with relevant work experience of in-demand occupation list.
- In-demand Work Candidates:
- The high-graduates from the Memorial University who have completed their PhD or Master’s degree from the university in past 3 years in particular courses such as, Technology,
Health Care, Aquaculture, and Agriculture. - As per the Newfoundland PR rules the category is beneficial for the international students who choose the Newfoundland for the further study.

Eligibility criteria for Newfoundland Immigration Program:
The new immigration pathway of Priority Skills Newfoundland and Labrador Program’s eligibility criteria are as per below
- Candidates age must be at least 21 years or higher
- Master or PhD degree must be achieved from Memorial University and it has to be achieved within the last 3 years only.
- Degree must be completed the courses such as.
- Information and Communication Technology,
- Ocean Technology,
- Healthcare ,
- Agriculture and
- Aquaculture.
- Candidate must have at least CLB level 5 or higher in the IELTS or CELPIP tests withing last 12 months. .
- Intention to live permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador

How to Apply for Newfoundland Immigration Program?
- There is a questionnaire which needs to be completed to apply for priority skills NL.
- The score needs to be achieved 60 points by the candidates if their information will be visible to the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism and the designated local employers.
- Highest points achieved candidates get higher chance to be visible in-front of the local employers.
- The higher points achieve candidates may receive the invitations through the priority skills and get a chance to submit their applications to the Provincial Nominee Program without a job offer.

- STEP 1: Completion of Expression of Interest may bring an invitation to apply for the candidates. The submitted EOI bring into the attention of NFL immigration department that you are interested to immigrate to Newfoundland & Labrador. The EOI also let the candidates know that whether they meet the eligibility requirement and the possibility of receiving an invitation to apply.
- STEP 2: It is not everyone who submit their EOI or meet the provincial requirement will receive an invitation to apply. Candidates who achieve the highest score and win the attention of the designated employers will have a high chance to get the nomination. Candidates who get the invitation they will be notified through an email.
- STEP 3: The invited candidates will be asked to submit their final application through Newfoundland & Labrador’s online application portal. In case of either the Skilled Worker or Express Entry Skilled Worker Category if candidates meet the eligibility criteria then province will issue provincial nomination certificate which can be submitted in final federal application.
