Off-campus employment means working for an employer outside of the college or university. The main industries providing off-campus employment to international students are retail, food service, sales and telemarketing, tourism, travel, and hospitality. On-campus employment allows the students to work for the institute or the university they are studying in.

    Terms and Conditions

    • The student must be enrolled as a full-time student in a Designated Learning Institute (DLI) in Canada.
    • Employment cannot be started before the commencement of the study program.
    • The study program pursued by the student must be at least six months long.
    • The student must have a social insurance number.

    How Many Hours can a Student Work

    During the regular school terms, a Student is allowed to work up to 20 hours per week.  During breaks (such as winter and summer holidays), the students are free to work full-time. The students can even do overtime or work with more than one employer (in case of off-campus employment) to make some extra money. However, the student must be a full-time student both before and after the break to join full-time employment.
