NSW is currently working from reduced skilled occupation lists at Home Affairs direction. These lists are subject to change without notice. NSW does not release information about the overall quota of nomination places, or allocation of places to each occupation.
SUBCLASS 190 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- When skilled workers get nomination from the state or territory government agency, that considered as the Skill Nominated Visa Under the Subclass 190.
- NSW Treasury is looking for the candidates who can drive the economy of the state and as a result their first
preference is highly skilled workers. Selection-based invitation process has been defined by the NSW to ensure
that state’s skill needs should be fulfilled and manage the ongoing demand of the labour market. - Candidates need to wait to get an invitation to apply by the NSW because they cannot directly apply for the NSW
nomination. - It is strongly recommended by state that candidates should consider all the immigration pathways and visa
options.
ELIGIBILITY
Wait until Invited to Apply
- Candidate cannot apply directly as they need to wait until get an invitation to apply.
- Usually, NSW does not invite the candidates in the invitation round who are working in outside of their
normal functioning areas.
Age
- Only below 45 years of age candidates are considered for the subclass 190
Points claim
- 65 points is required to obtain in the Skill Select EOI.
English language
- Competent English score is one of the basic requirements at the time of invitation.
- Citizens from the countries like the USA, UK, Canada, Republic of Ireland and New Zealand are not
required to complete an English language test.
Occupation
- The valid occupation-based skill assessment occupation must be exactly matching with occupation which is
been entered in the Skill Select EOI.
Invitation Rounds
- As per the rule of subclass 190 in the first two years candidate must stay, live, and work at least 2
years in NSW.
Your commitment to NSW
- Generally, in the round of invitations EOIs are based on the occupation codes in order of
- Point score
- English proficiency Score
- Total years of Skilled work experience in the nominated occupation.
NSW’s visa priority is not based on the expiring of visas, losing of points or eligibility, or living and working in the
state.

SUBCLASS 491 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
REGIONS
- Central Coast, Central West, Far South Coast, Far West, Hunter, Illawarra, Mid North Coast, Northern Inland, Northern Rivers, Orana, Riverina, Southern Inland (Murray region also includes), Sydney
NOMINATION CRITERIA
You must meet the all criteria in one of the following three streams to be eligible for NSW nomination:
Living and working in regional areas of NSW – these conditions must be followed to be eligible for the stream.
- A valid skill assessment should be as per the regional occupational list.
- 12 months stay should be there in the regional area of NSW
- Previous 12 months working in nominated or closely related occupation in NSW’s designated regional area.
Recently completed study in regional NSW; these conditions must be followed to be eligible for the stream.
- Skill Assessment must as be as per the region’s nominated occupation list.
- Criteria of study if you have done from Australia.
- Study must be completed within 24 months..
- The university/college/institute must be in the designates regional areas of NSW.
- Study must as per Australian study requirement
- Study should be in the closed relation of your nominated occupant and assessed from the relevant assessing authorities.
- Candidates must have to lived in the designated regional areas of NSW during the studies.
If candidate is living and working outside of NSW’s regional areas: these conditions must be followed to be eligible for the stream. However, out of 3 criteria minimum 1 must be followed along with its conditions
Job offers from regional NSW area
- Candidates must have a valid skilled assessment as per the nominated occupation list of the region.
- Ongoing employment offer.
- A close related occupation or nominated occupation for the term at least of 12 months 35 hours per week
- Ongoing employment offer letter
- Employment must be located in the designated regional area in NSW and registered in Australia.
Offshore applicants must have at least 5 years of skilled employment experience.
- If you reside outside of Australia, you must:
- Candidates who are residing outside of Australia they must hold a valid skills assessment as per regional’s nominated occupation list.
- As per mentioned above 5 years of experience in skilled employment experience in nominated occupations or in close related occupations.
Family relation or ties within NSW regional areas.
- Along with the valid skill assessment a candidate must have an immediate family member in the designated regional areas of NSW state which must fall as per given below criteria.
- Close relatives mean grandfather, grandmother, father, mother, brother or sister (it also includes a step brother, sister, father or mother or adoptive child as well);
- Relative has at least age of 18 years or above.
- Close relative must be Australian permanent residency holder or citizen or provincial nominated visa holder under subclass 489.
- The person must be living in the state designated regional area for at least last 24 months.
- And family member or close relative must have completed statutory declaration which satisfy the chain migration requirements.
