IELTS Writing Task 2 Essay Sample Answer

The internet has changed the way we communicate. Much communication today happens through social media. Some people support this and think it is a positive development. Others believe that social media have negative effects.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Nowadays, society from all spheres rely on social media applications to establish communication with others. However, some individuals believe/reckon/opine that this is a beneficial technological advancement. Others, conversely, support that social media have negative repercussions.Prior to my opinion, both views will be discussed/elucidated in the ensuing paragraphs.

On the one hand, the internet and social media have strongly broken international barriers because they connect people from different countries. On account of the internet, currently, individuals can get in touch with people from overseas, not only with their relatives but also for work purposes. Undoubtedly, this benefit opens the opportunity to the public to interact in all possible ways. For example, in 2020, the Zoom platform became famous in the scholars’ environment due to the accessibility and usability of the interface of the application. Thanks to the internet and ZOOM, in the current time a lot of undergraduates can continue with their studies despite the COVID pandemic.

On the other hand, opposers support that the information of the public is in serious danger due to hackers and viruses that can steal vital information such as bank accounts and personal data. Therefore, these people’s preferences are old-fashioned methods to communicate with their relatives such as by sending letters. This is because they are afraid that their information can suffer from phishing scams or hacking. The best example was in 2017 when Twitter suffered an attack and lost critical and confidential information of their users, including, bank accounts.

To conclude, although the internet has opened new doors for people to communicate to each other, I take the view that it is menacing to share critical information by social media because it could be purloined.

    Conclusion

In conclusion, doing well in IELTS Writing Task 2 means having good language skills, clear organization, and being careful with details. By directly answering the question, staying clear and organized, using different words, and avoiding mistakes, students can expert this tough part of the exam.
