Planning to apply for Victorian skilled nomination? Victoria’s announcement dated 13 October 2026 confirms fees for Registrations of Interest (ROIs) and nomination applications, alongside more detailed information about selection under the Victorian Points Test (VPT). The update concerns subclass 190 and subclass 491 nomination.
The 2026–27 program is not announced as open in the reviewed update. Applicants who submitted an ROI in an earlier program year must submit a new ROI when the new program opens.
Key takeaways
- ROI submission costs AUD 60 excluding GST; nomination applications cost AUD 180 excluding GST.
- GST depends on whether the applicant is in Australia when paying.
- VPT ranking and SkillSelect eligibility are separate.
- Priority applies to specified occupations, not everyone working in a named industry.
- Paying a fee does not secure an invitation or nomination.
How Victoria ranks your Registration of Interest
Victoria calculates a VPT total from the SkillSelect Expression of Interest (EOI) and Victorian ROI. Applicants must satisfy both federal visa eligibility and state nomination requirements.
SkillSelect requires at least 65 points. The VPT has no fixed pass mark: your competitiveness depends on the pool and limited places. Victoria does not provide individual invitation probabilities or prioritise personal circumstances such as approaching age limits, visa expiry or expiring documents.
The table summarises the seven weighted factors. These are VPT points, not additional SkillSelect points. [2]
| Factor | Published VPT points |
| Age | 18: 265; 19: 282; 20–29: 300; ages 30–44: declining age-specific scores |
| English | Competent: 0; Proficient: 100; Superior: 200 |
| Nominated occupation experience | Published bands: 0, 20, 40, 60, 80 or 100 |
| Education | Other: 25; bachelor/honours: 50; master: 75; PhD: 100 |
| Occupation skill level | Level 1: 50; levels 2 and 3: 0 |
| Partner skills | 50 only if all specified conditions are met; otherwise 0 |
| Current skilled earnings in Victoria | AUD 80,000–84,999: 8; rising bands up to AUD 170,000 or more: 150 |
Partner points require a 10-point partner-skills claim in the EOI, inclusion of that partner in the nominated visa application, and a current priority occupation for the partner. Single applicants and those with Australian partners receive 0 under this VPT factor.
See the official VPT page for every age, experience and earnings band. Do not substitute overseas earnings for current skilled employment earnings in Victoria.
How invitations are selected
An ROI is considered through two routes: the highest VPT totals across all eligible occupations, and the highest totals within priority industries or subgroups. Selection occurs through regular rounds; meeting requirements does not guarantee an outcome.
Priority industries and occupation checks
The published priority areas are healthcare, social assistance, education and construction. Education and construction have subgroups. For Early Childhood (Pre-primary School) Teachers, one or more years of relevant experience plus Proficient or Superior English attracts priority.
Check your exact occupation and ANZSCO code against the official list. A broad label such as engineer, pharmacist or teacher is insufficient to establish priority. The official list is linked in the sources below so readers can check the current occupation-specific position.
Victoria nomination fees for 2026 27
| Service | Excluding GST | Including GST |
| Registration of Interest | AUD 60 | AUD 66 |
| Subclass 190 nomination application | AUD 180 | AUD 198 |
| Subclass 491 nomination application | AUD 180 | AUD 198 |
All amounts are Australian dollars. GST of 10% applies when the applicant is in Australia at payment. The nomination fee is payable only after invitation and submission of a nomination application. Home Affairs visa application charges are separate. [1, 3]
ROI validity and repeat applications
The ROI fee applies once per program year; withdrawing and resubmitting in that year does not trigger another charge. An ROI lasts only for its program year. Programs run from on or after 1 July to 30 June, but submissions can close earlier. Each nomination application attracts a new fee.
A previous-year ROI does not replace the new submission required for 2026–27. Wait for the published opening arrangements before submitting.
Payment and refunds
Payments accept Visa or Mastercard and appear as VIC Migration. Banks may add foreign-currency or overseas processing charges.
Fees are generally non-refundable. Non-selection, refusal, withdrawal, changed plans, declining an invitation or nomination, incomplete or inaccurate information, identity-verification issues, duplicate accounts, changed rules, nomination withdrawal and incorrect-location GST charges do not by themselves establish refund eligibility. Refunds may apply for administrative or technical errors or unavailable services, and return to the original card.
Read the official payment terms and refund policy before paying. Fees can change.
What applicants should do next
Before making a submission, ask your adviser to review your nominated occupation, EOI claims, Victorian ROI information and supporting evidence together. Keep English results, assessment records and employment information organised so your claims can be checked consistently.
Budget for each stage separately. Avoid choosing a pathway based solely on a ranking total or the name of a priority industry. A personalised review should consider the complete visa and nomination requirements.
